Malcolm and Scottie wrote many things here....

It sounds as if it's head-butting season in these parts again,
unfortunately.  If it's all the same to you fellows, could you
take your spat to private mail and keep the personal attacks
there, not here?  It's not really appropriate or pleasant to be
on the sidelines watching.

This is reminiscent of the scene in The Godfather, when Clemenza 
tells Michael Corleone that these things (bloodbaths of various 
types) have to happen every so often, to clear the air and get 
rid of the bad blood.  We tend to have that happen on this list.  

But it's better off in private communications.

I hate squelching a good conversation, but this isn't really a
good conversation, and it would probably be more pleasant for 
everyone involved if it stayed away from the list.

Thanks, all, for cooperating in making this a continued pleasant place
for discussion of the work of J.D. Salinger!
