Bessie's up for grabs, to be sure. But I think, for the rules of the game
to work right, somebody else has to say that you're "like Buddy" or "very
similar to Allie C.".... Otherwise, we'd all end up being Zooey, or Holden.
And nobody, but nobody would be Ackley....
I've just realized--to paraphrase Dorothy Parker--that Salinger's characters
run the spectrum from Ackley to Zooey!
