My girlfriend is reading nothing but Habermas, Chomsky et al all day, and are forever giving me books like “Intoduction to Rowles ‘A theory of Justice’”, in a vain effort to drag me to the Dark Side. She did in fact refer to this kind of literature as “ordinary books” the first time I met her. A Freudian slip if there ever was one. The point is, she has a degree in philosophy and are going for a PhD in political science (still a loooot of philosophy), and by the look of it there seems to be millions of job out there. I took philosophy for quite a while at the university and am actually using a lot of it in my work. So don’t worry. If you’re interested enough, you’ll make use of it. Otherwise, a little shot of metaphysics has never hurt anyone. If nothing else, you can put your fan-picture of Wittgenstein beside your picture of Picasso and try judging which has the most intense look of genius in his eyes. Just for reference. /TLM ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
