Colin: > I couldn't agree with you more Tim. Virtually every post I've seen from > Scottie has a sneering tone which is unpleasant. Maybe he thinks he is > being funny but I for one ain't laughing. I've been reading Scottie's posts for a while now, and I've noticed a bit more range in tone than you're suggesting. Scottie, does at times let loose a sharp, direct critique. I sometimes wince on behalf of the target (sometimes Scottie, himself), mostly because he is usually within a millimeter or two of the bullsesye. Occassionally, he'll post something I see as errant, in which case I think the most appropriate reaction is a direct counter-critique. Let him have it right back. I'm certain he can take it. 'Quality' is at least as important as 'pleasantness' in a conversation - this is, if anything, a Salingerian idea. Scottie contributes to the former. -Sean
