Paul,

While smoking is definitely less acceptable than it once was, it is
still pretty prevalent in Britain. I am twenty, and probably more than
half my peers smoke, and have smoked since they were 12 or 13. As for
that mysterious sickly sweet kind of smoke, I only know about 2 or 3
people not intimately accquainted with it!
