Ok, so I suppose I will chime in on my favorite bands/artists are if the rest
of the bananafish don't mind.
Lets see where to start.
Pearl Jam (#1 always - even their new cd is great - they never compromise and
they create socially aware music), Rage Against the Machine (no longer
together - BOOOOOOO!), Jimmy Eat World (they are awesome in concert, ive seen
them twice), Sparta (members formerly of At the Drive In), DMB, Dashboard
Confessional, American Football, a lot of indie and emo bands that are too man
to list, David Gray, John Mayer, Ryan Adams, The Ataris, Ben Harper (one of my
all time faves), and others but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
I like just about all music. I could name rap, blues, jazz, classical artists
that I like. The only music I really can't stand and it isnt even because it
sounds all that bad is the pop stuff on MTV's TRL like Britney, Christina
Aguilera, and N'Sync, etc. Their music sometimes isn't all that bad, but I
just can't bring myself to get over the BS that seems to permeate every
appearance they make. Its the Holden in me I suppose that makes me despise
any superficiality that is so blatant it is just disgusting. Sparta and
American Football are probably the most obscure bands I named but I would
highly highly recommend them. And Sparta like so many great bands is from
Texas, my home state. Love the state, hate its politics. BTW, was anyone
else completely disgusted with the most recent election in Texas?

I would like to pose a question to the list:
The atmosphere on this list is much different than on most other lists I am on
or have been on in that the content is not purely restricted to JD and his
works. Why exactly is this? Is it because we just generally have a casual
atmosphere (which I think is true)? Or is it that in our affection for what
JD has written we are somehow tied together on an emotional level or we are
linked in a deeper way than simply our love for CITR or Franny for instance?
Anyway.

Have a good night,
Levi
