Well, yeah -- if there's a major cataclysm and life as we know it ends,
it's conceivable the works of Shakespeare could be lost. Or, if there's
a cultural revolution the likes of which we've never before seen...I
could see these works being neglected then lost. But we're still
reading Homer today (in translation. Yeah, that's a problem) and it's
been...what....2600ish years? Why not another thousand? Heck,
Hollywood's coming out with an Iliad film -- major motion picture along
the lines of Gladiator and Braveheart or, more accurately, Lord of the
Rings.
