Merry Christmas to you too...

Seconding the end of Scottie's last post, Merry Christmas, everyone.

And welcome back, Valerie (I have a hard time doing accents/umlauts on
this laptop I'm working on).

Jim

PS I agree with this as far as it goes:

> Life is choice, decision, committment, action. Not dither. Not hand-wringing rumination.

I'd also add that life is also thought and contemplation -in addition to
all the above-. Animals can choose, decide, commit, and act. Only
human beings can think about the consequences of those actions.

At any rate, I don't think I've been seeing too much hand wringing on
the list. Just thinking about things.

I like Milton here: "reason is but choosing." For some reason, when I
read that, I immediately expanded it: "writing is but choosing." Really
an eye-opener. Some writing represents the choice, other writing
reflects on the choices made. All a part of life, so far as I can tell.
If I had to choose between one or the other, I'd of course choose action
over reflection, fiction over criticism. But what I choose instead is
both.
