Being a kid from the '70s I was subject to many a list of the top 100 rock songs of
all time on a pretty regular basis growing up. (Please tell me they don't have them
anymore.) And I thought to myself once: "What would happen if one year the number
one song wasn't Stairway to Heaven, but Cross-eyed and Painless?" Probably end up
being a tragedy worse than the War of the Worlds.
