God, I'm not sure I know how to explain. 
I just mean that Holden can never tell us 
what he MEANS...He can only give us examples.
  He's completely
elliptical, because he doesn't know how to say
 exactly how he feels.  He's got the support
 without the thesis.

God, I don't know.  I haven't got the book 
in front of me right now.  I'll think about
 it some more and get back to you...Meanwhile,
 if anyone knows what I mean, lend me a hand, eh?
