This story, though I like it in other respects, fails to convince me of t=

sweetness and the sense of humour of Walt. I mean, this whole story of th=

backwards promotion to a naked general, and also calling an ankle "Uncle
Wiggily" would probably make me laugh in real life, but in fiction it doe=
s
not even make me smile. Neither do I think "Miss spiritual tramp of 1948"=

In my opinion the only Salinger characters with a real sense of humour ar=

Or does my being a non-native speaker play a role here?
