How true. During my university career I had some wonderful, intuitive
tutors who were delighted when I did such things as compare Shakespeare's
`Troilus and Cressida' with Monty Python's `The Life of Brian' (: But on
the other hand there is the oft quoted remark on my Art History and Theory
Essay which still makes my jaw drop in utter horror even today: `Your
opinion is no substitute for serious engagement in academic literature'.
Translate: don't bother with your own ideas. We just want you to
regurgitate a little Paz and Derrida.'

Dog's bollocks.
