Unfortunately, though, the subject line is often a moment of linchpin
importance in the well-wrought post.  An honest, accurate subject line
can destroy the finesse of a post like working boots can destroy a
flower garden.  And besides, what would we do if we wanted to mention
the Old Testament in the subject line?  Just imagine the confusion that
would result if, say, Jim was reading the Sports Illustrated thread, and
he wanted to link the discussion back to Old Testament references in
_Franny and Zooey_:

JD--FZ and the OT, not OT (was re: SI [OT])

It'd be madness.
