Look, when I read Derrida I like what I read (at least some of it)
because he appears to be making valid observations about how language
works, about our presuppositions when we use it and speak of it, and at
least some of the consequences of those presuppositions.

The problem comes, then, when we define truth as arbitrary.  Because
Derrida's philosophy is powerful and influential because it contains a
great deal of "truth" attained by "good old fashioned study."  

What I learn from Derrida is that language is a water jug with holes. 
But it still carries water.  And even more than that, I think I've
learned  that we just plain Do Not understand, really, how and why
language works.  

But that does not mean it does not.
