Dear Scottie: I regret that I will temporarily be forced to take a leave of
absence from work because a recent fit of laughter has pushed me to
dangerously high levels of mirth, and I have torn the knee cartilage that
anchored my ribs. Therefore, I shall now be restrained. And also
restrained from the keyboard (but only for the next fifteen minutes).

Congratulations on what sounds like a fine time, worthy of Withnail himself!

So far, as I know it, the current bananafish populations have met as
follows. We need to draw more lines between the isles:

Matt + Scottie + Helena	(Dublin)

	Tim + Will (New York)

	Will + [sorry I forget]

Have I omitted any others? Probably. Send them in and I'll keep a tally.

I recently met a guy with whom I've been corresponding for months, at a
party, and it was an accident; we just happened to bump into each other,
and someone introduced us, and there was a moment of shock, but then it was
OK. (But it was a room of computer geeks, so it wasn't as if we were the
only two people there who use e-mail or anything along those lines.)

I'll go back to my room now, Doctor Bowman.

Cheers to all on what will probably be my last post of the year!

P.S. Anyone who's tried using the list's "search" mechanism on the archive
site may find it not in working condition. That will be my last technical
problem to solve in 1998 (I hope).
