Given what the weather is like at this time of year, meeting or congregating at the duck pond is not always a good proposition; it can get mighty cold (as Paul and I found out last winter). On the other hand, we could meet at a well-known spot that is decent and affordable; I'm thinking of the restaurant called Dojo (a/k/a Dojo West) that is on West 4th St. and Mercer St., one block from the big Broadway Tower records. If we agreed on a date and time and number of people, I can probably arrange to have a large chunk of tables cordoned off for us -- however many of "us" there are. And, ironically, it would put us literally across the street from where this mailing list now lives. That's not why I suggest it, though; it's because it's cheap, it serves beer and curious drinks, and it accommodates both vegetarians and non-. So, that's my suggestion. I would not mind during the week between Xmas and New Year's, but early in January is certainly fine too. --tim
