I have totally been neglecting the discussion here, but if we are throwing 
our own favorites lists, here's mine...

OK, I have to start with the book I've read 27 times, the obvious choice : 
Catcher In the Rye.  Sorry to be so predictable...

"And the Ass Saw the Angel" - Nick Cave
"A Child's Night Dream" - Oliver Stone
"Slaughterhouse Five" - Vonnegut
"Fight Club" (seriously!) - C. Palahnuik
"Tortilla Flat" - Steinbeck
"Brain Droppings" - George Carlin
any Kafka...
any Twain...


I guess I'm not as intellectual as I thought, huh?  Oh well, hope I'm not 
stepping on any toes coming into the discussion late and out of the loop.  
For all i know what I've just posted above is useless rubbish!  But then, 
that's not really my problem!
