You may want to call and check hours, but I think anyone can go there. You don't go through normal library turnstiles and will need to be very polite and careful to the rare books staff, but I have found them to be helpful and the reading room there is as close to heaven as it gets. They do allow lap tops and I suppose a really fast typist might transcribe the stories, but I beg anyone accessing the stories or this list to respect Salinger's wishes. The stories are part of archives and not for publication, even if I think their quality merits publication. Please enjoy the stories without hurting their author. will
