Back when Sonny and I first started contemplating a FAQ, this was
perhaps the most difficult issue to address. How to express,
succinctly, and without losing one's cool, that even a modest skimming
of one writer's work and the tiniest, train-station style glance at
the other's would be sufficient illustration that JDS and Pynchon
couldn't possibly be the same person, if he cared anything about his
writing (first sentence of _Lot 49_ excepted).
