Since we seem to be talking about disgusting momenti
amoris, what immediately came into my head was
the bull's ear presented by her matador boyfriend
to Lady Brett Ashley & which winds up wrapped
in a handkerchief, shoved to lie along with the dead
cigarette butts at the back of a drawer in a hotel room
in Pamplona.
In that story Pedro Romero saw himself as saving
Brett from a life of promiscuity - in rather the same
way that Ginnie has presumably decided to save Franklin
from a life of buggery.
