Just checking out the amazon.com/PEN competition at
www.amazon.com/shortstory.
Yes, a $10,000 reward is being offered for the "best" short story written by
a basically "unpublished" writer. (They explain more in detail in the
Rules/Guidelines.)
The editors/writers of amazon.com will shift through the van-loads of
stories to pick a few for the three real judges to choose from. But it was
interesting to note that these unnamed editors/writers go to the trouble to
list twelve short story collections that they feel are first rate. Yes,
_Nine Stories_ made the cut. And each volume is available right there to
click on and order.
