Not more than five minutes ago, while dipping into my not-well-worn copy of
_Nine Stories_, I was startled to read in "UWIC" that the favorite author of
Eloise's husband, Lew, is L. Manning Vines. Surely, we aren't suppose to
jump to conclusions when Buddy mentions, in _RHTRBC_, his company
commander's favorite author is you-know-who.
Or are we?
(You will be relieved to learn that Mr. Vines, who knows his way around an
igloo, does not figure in the voluminous correspondence of That German
Poet.)
