I'm modifying the questions a bit:

Last book I read: Moby Dick by Herman Melville("Loomings," "The
Whiteness of the Whale," "Queequeg in his coffin," and "The Symphony"
about a dozen times each)

Last book I read _For_The_First_Time_: The Glass Bead Game (Magister
Ludi) by Hermann Hesse (interesting that two of my favorite writers are
named "Herman(n)")

Last Salinger: Down at the Dinghy

Book I'm reading now: Independent People by Halldor Laxness
