Very funny! Yes, Will H. had it down right.

It kind of makes the Ian Hamilton effort positively shine by comparison (if
one deletes the lame companion & the in search of motif). I wish JDS had
cooperated with Hamilton (yea, FAT Chance). That would have eliminated the
lame companion plus the lame in search of motif. I believe a pretty
credible book would have come out of it. After all, Hamilton's original
idea was A Writing Life: 1919-1965. Alexander's book is 3rd rate pop-psych,
gossip page trash, poor scholarship, and just an all around poor job. Even
didn't use the New Yorker Files that well. Yagoda has info in his book that
Alexander should have included. Gripe, gripe, gripe. :)
