I was wondering how people feel about religions and
religiouis sects that differ from their own(if any?
athiest? agnostic?). I don't want to start a religious
fight, but I've picked up a book on the Dead Sea
Scrolls(mostly the book was around the controversies
and scandals surrounding its research and its been on
my mind a lot these days. That book got me to go back
and pick up a biography on Buddha(with his teachings),
the Koran, and a book called "Sacred Origins of
Profound Things"(by Charles Panati; it compares and
contrasts different religions in terms of prayer,
angel and demon hiererchy, dietary rules, sexual
taboos, messengers, and other fundamental aspects of
religion. I found the book(and topic) to be really
interesting; in seeing how so many of them overlap and
have similarities and seeing some of the possible
reasons behind the parts where they don't or oppose
each other. Again, I'm not trying to start a religious
controversey, but I just wanted to know what people
think:)
