Yes, as Smmrs@aol wrote, Seymour did have scars on his wrists in RHTRBC.
The reference is in his diary:

"Mrs. Fedder has asked Muriel to find out discreetly if there's any insanity
in the family. I gather that Muriel was naive enough to tell her where I
got the scars on my wrists, poor sweet baby."

And an odd one to follow from S:AI:

"The other kids in the family, not exclusively but especially the boys, the
many pre-puberty boys we always seemed to have around the house, used to be
fascinated by his wrists and hands."

(Though I confess the sentence is pulled out of context, dealing with
Seymour being a very hairy man, youth and adolescent.)

And to close, since I stumbled on it. The quote goes to the discussion of
Jim's and will's re interest in the text and/or the author:

"But young poets beware. If you want us to remember your best poems at
least as fondly as we do your Racy, Colorful Lives, it might be as well to
give us one good field mouse, flushed by the heart, in every stanza."

Ah, the good ole days, a mere three decades ago, when in my mind _Salinger_
meant four Bantam paperbacks and "Cornish" had but culinary connotations.
