Although there are those individuals who insist that the twenty-first
century doesn't actually begin until 2001, I tend to sympathize with the
odometer effect. When you find yourself scratching out 19's and
scribbling in 20's, the occasion is special enough to be called a new
millenium. The whole mess began back in the first century, and since
those bozos didn't have the foresight to begin with year 0, I figure
they deserve to have the only century with 99 years.
