My objection is to the use of the word "cowardice."

I share your objection. The word smells of propaganda,
in this case, designed to dissuade others from killing
themselves, and although the intentions are good, it's
dishonest.

I think your "path of least resistance" is right on.
Some follow that path to death while others follow the
same path to the next living day. What makes one group
any more cowardly than the other?
