Your guess is as good as mine on that issue, Scottie. I for one will
not object to any bashing of the Sweidsh Academy. As for the lack of
humour in my national profile, so kindly referd to by you as
humourless, I have learnt that humour is a cultural thing, so I will
not defend myself and my fellow Swedes on that issue.
And might I add that if you do go silent, I will miss your voice. As
someone pointed out, most replys on this list are to your posts, which
perhaps can be seen as a tribute. What trigered the figspeak-post, if
anyone cares, was that I have, in the past, asked you, Scottie, at
least one question, and I mean specifically asked you. As a newcomer,
and someone whose native tongue is not English, I think the fact that
you for some reason choose not to answer that post hurt a little more
than I should have let it. The figspeak-post was written with this in
mind and in a sudden rush of irritation. As a result I am afraid that
it ended up quite some distance below the belt. Nevertheless, I posted
what I posted, but in the light of today I must say that I should not
have made you the icon for my frustration with people more eloquent
than myself.
