I regret that I have but a moment to give for my list-hood, but -- no,
that was Patrick Henry speaking -- on a list in Revolutionary War
times, right?

Seriously, I am constrained by time to a few lines, and only want to say
I'm glad it was only a dream; that like so many other people here I
enjoy your posts whenever they come and on whatever topic you choose;
and we have not had a breakout of "hey, knock it off" regarding wacko
posts in a long time. A long time.

I like to think it's a combination of having a mostly cooperative group
of people, an elastic tolerance here for digressions ("Digression!" [I
can't resist slipping in that mini-quotation from Catcher whenever
possible]), and an inherently wide range of subjects. I mean, this is
certainly not an ultraspecialized list, and pretty much any sensible
or intelligent topic can be construed to some extent to have a connection
to the topic at hand, if we try hard enough.

OK, so that is stretching things a bit. But still. We have a lot of
what politicians like to call "wiggle room."

Post on, Laughing Man, because the quality of your observations helps
us all put our noses to the grindstone in order to find a way to keep
up with you!

And cheers to all, with apologies for public & private silences. Too
many commitments, too much competition for scarce resources. But on
the other hand, I've discovered a good regimen that I've been using of
late that's allowed me to turn out about five finished draft pages of
fiction a DAY -- which has been enormously encouraging to someone like
me who is such "a slow bleeder" (as JDS has been called), he makes JDS
look as if he has a burst artery!

I regret having to cut back "bananafish" activity, but don't regret
having fresh stuff coming out of my pen after a long dry time....

Indeed. Keep things going, good friend.
