To me, effective writing never really breaks rules. It either follows
established rules, or just creates new ones that readers need to learn.
Writing that breaks all rules without establishing any (even poetry) is
just unintelligible...

>From what I've heard, though, your approach is probably the most effective
for actually teaching writing. I heard of one study in which only
positive feedback was given -- no corrections at all. The results were
that the writing improved more dramatically than in other groups that were
given mixed negative and positive feedback, or exclusively negative
feedback.

Of course, I've never met anyone willing to really try that :).
