Why all this angst over 'grool'? It is, of course, an alternative
spelling of 'gruel' - & reflects Salinger's nascent interest in Scotch
cereal crops. First the rye, now the oats.
A pair of grools are simply what they sound: two thin, watery,
more or less inedible women.
