The Chief makes an uncharacteristic slip here in his oily puddle of
layman's wisdom.

This straight-out Salinger question, and many others like it, have in
fact been addressed on this list before--both by the posturing,
credentialed elite and by the Real Readers and Cool Lima Beans out
there, as it happens.

There is of course nothing wrong with revisiting topics over and over
and over again. Do excuse those of us, however, who don't have that
noble luster in our eyes anymore.
