Ah yes, Pauline, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, the only thing I had left
some twenty five years ago in Grant's Pass, Oregon, when some hippie
interrupted my hitch hiking odessey to San Francisco (how I love ya, how I
love ya, how I love ya Fris-co) by driving off with my backpack in the rear
half of his pickup truck.

I believe, Jim, from my recollection of some other post of yours, that you
would have been too young to have had first hand experience with the original
bearers of the hippie standard. I do feel that there was a lot positive going
on that cannot be swept away with disparaging references to unwashed drop-outs
in love beads. Malcolm posted an interesting article on the 60's by Tom Robbins
a while ago that you could probably find in the bananafish archives (or
get from me by email).

If you would like a fun, cynical perspective, look no further than Mr. Zappa's
above referenced work, "We're Only In It For The Money".

Mattis (flattered beyond words for having been even remotely confused with
Matt Kozusko)
