(One production, "Dancing in the End > Zone," actually attracted his father to a performance!) I heard he once offered a cool lima bean to a dinner guest! I didn't even know Bob Dylan was still making music until a couple weeks = ago when I heard he was nominated for one of those trophy thingies. Saw a show on A&E last night about the dude that shot John Lennon. It = talked about how he claimed he did it because he thought John was a phony and at = his sentencing he read a little bit from Catcher. In fact, he read the part = where Holden explains to us what "The Catcher in the Rye" means. How could a 30-year-old man take a confused 17-year-old fictional character seriously? Sure, Holden has his good points but he is more hypocritical than = anything. I don't believe Salinger meant for anyone to look up to Holden at all. Quite = the opposite, in fact. If Salinger meant to teach us anything via Holden, I = believe his lessons, in most cases, are the opposite of what Holden was actually saying. I hope that made sense and now I feel so self-conscious about it = that I can't bring myself to punctuate this final sentence, not even with = something as simle as a period -David
