In JDS's '55-'65 published fiction, I'm not sure in which order Allusions to
Literature, Religion, Philosophy, Music, Film, Painting, and Culinary Arts
win, place and show; ------------------------------------------------

I would place it at '53-'65 simply because I see everything from Teddy
onwards together and pre-53 Salinger together. From Teddy onwards JDS's
isolation ,or something, seems to have him writing more and more from what
he is reading and less from experience.
 Take "For Esme" for example, reading this wonder you have to believe it
comes singing from his life, fiction of course, with the heart coming from
his.
 To digress, sometimes I think that Salinger, with Sergeant X and Seymour,
shows two ways to come out of the war. Sergeant X = damage = love = healing.
Seymour = damage = empty = suicide.
