Subject: three quarters of an inch of cuff - no more, no less

I'm indebted once again to that fine old Savile Row firm
Omlor, Hochman & Rovira for the sartorial advice - offered
as ever with that murmured authority that speaks of generations
of fine tailoring.
When Niles talked about 'cuffs & wingtips' I could only think
it might refer to those stiffeners we used to insert into the
leading edges of collars to ensure a razor straightness framing
the knot of the tie. (No Windsors, please.)
Like Moliere's bourgeois, I realise now I've been living with
wingtips throughout my life, yet never realised it. My old
partner Jack Sullivan wore them all his days, as did my dear
old Dad from time to time. I can't actually remember a pair
of my own - but now & again it must have been a damned
near run thing.
Again, many thanks.
Scottie B.
