That was really a creative idea for a book, you know. It's like an
archive of "common reader" (I know those weren't the only people in the
book, though) responses to an author that you just don't get -- I mean,
we know what figures like Jonson thought of Shakespeare, but we don't
know what the people who sat on the dirt floor in front of the stage
thought...
