I think it's kind of interesting that we Salinger folks refer so much to >eastern religious and philosophical thought, but The Way of the Pilgrim is >actually a Christian tale. In "Seymour: An Introduction", Buddy tells us that his and Seymour's own personal version (my terminology) of Buddhism were partly based on the Bible. I love that, since a great deal of Christianity actually has very little to do with anything Christ said. A lot of people I know (including, rather unhumbly, I know, myself) who actually have read and pondered and learned from Christ's teachings aren't Christians at all.
