a couple of points

The practice of avoiding upper case seems to be spreading.
In the short time I've been a member of the list, there's been
some questioning of it by others - not just me.

	The explanation offered is `laziness'.

In that same short period, I've been scolded for discourtesy.
But surely courtesy entails, among other things, trying make
it as comfortable as one can for one's readers to understand
one's ideas. Proffering a long line of monotonously undifferentiated
words which have to be construed rather than read is vaguely
	insulting.

It's a bit like turning up at work or for a date, unwashed,
undeodorised, uncombed & unkempt. And saying: "I'm sure
you don't mind. I simply couldn't be bothered. After all, I'm
such a sweet, adorable little thing that I knew no one could
possibly object...... Anyway, I don't actually give a damn how
	you feel. "

In response to Mr Eryk Salvaggio (a jolly attractive name, much
more stylish - though, of course, also more egocentric - than
`ecas'), my real problem was not so much with the orientalism
(though I *do* have a small difficulty with that too) as with the
improbability of anyone asking through the medium of a world wide
network how best to be modest.
