I was there in 1993.
My sister lived in Duluth, in DeKalb County for 3 years.
I remember that exact moment of the laser show. The 3 generals are lit up with
lasers, and a map of the US is superimposed over them, and then Stonewall
Jackson takes his sword and slices the country in half, and they play Dixie. I
seem to remember the Braves "chop" interspersed with the wild applause, as if
that were somehow related...

Eerie experience...we went right after touring the slave quarters of an old
plantation, as I recall, and also heard a long schpiel about the Olympic events
that were going to be held at Stone Mtn. The Atlanta area is interesting--a mix
of rich history and a vibrant present. But yeah, some things just send shivers
down the spine...
