<<<The self-absorption of youth is charming but ludicrous when
it persists into old age.>>>

<sigh> I think I understand you here, but could you please expound on what
you mean by "the self-absorption of youth"? This is probably close to the
heart of a major conflict I'm dealing with right now, and would sincerely
appreciate any further ideas you have on this subject. My prior post about
section men etc. is obviously the self-absorption of youth, but I haven't
heard an especially convincing case as to why this "charming" quality becomes
ludicrous with old age. I'd love for you to convince me...and I realize that
I'm asking a lot, but I really would appreciate it. What is to replace the
"self absorption of youth" when one reaches adulthood? I certainly hope its
not a job, money, a partner, children, golf, and writing scathing articles on
why and how Salanger is an immature loony twit. I'm hoping that I can find a
nice cozy place in society while still retaining the "self absorption of
youth" (although I cringe at "self absorption", I'll still use it because
these are your words). I can't think of any better words, by the way. :)
Humbly (hopefully),

Eric
