I joined this list not really intending to contribute anything to it. My opinions are my own and I am not wanton to burden you with them. I joined primarily to see how an author whom I enjoy affected other people and to see what insights they had gained from him. I did not intend to join a list devoted to grammar, lies, petty arguments, and useless remarks. In response to the current debate over capitalization, I can only remark this: If you joined this list to be a proofreader, then congratualtions, you're doing your job well. If you joined it to voice your feelings on Salinger's work, you've missed the mark. In regards to the individual who wishes to visit Cornish and hopefully Salinger himself, do what you feel in your heart to be right. In regards to all those who have answered that post for directions with protective or cruel remarks regarding the author's right to privacy, I would offer this: Elli asked for directions, not for your remarks as to whether or not it is appropriate for her to go. If you do not wish to give directions or truthful remarks to her, then please don't make her feel anymore nervous/scared/apprehensive/guilty about her intentions. I will make the assumption that Mr. Salinger himself has never personally asked you to protect his right to privacy, I am sure he can take care of himself just fine. Please don't feel that any of these remarks are anger-filled or malicious. They are based on exhaustion from reading numerous posts that only show how juvenile people can act. I appreciate all of you taking the time to read this short little piece of my mind... Thank you, You're welcome, I'm sorry, It's okay. Telaflect@aol.com
