The olive is a security blanket. We apprentices here in the Jimmy Dean
Salinger fan club are expected to walk on crutches. But the Man
himself--damn; I think it's terribly embarrasing. When the other kids
bring this one up on the playground, I just hang my head and slink
away. The same cute joke in two separate stories? Maybe that's why he
doesn't want anybody reading those old yarns.
