Dear All, I don't know what the editing process was so I can only
guess but here are some clues. During the final interview, I was
reminded several times to explain contexts more carefully because
the audience may not know much about Holden which is a bit of a
problem since I had assumed that listeners would be people who had
read Catcher and knew about Salinger.

The questions I was asked and the responses were not as incisive or
detailed as I had hoped...my wife, a former TV producer for CNN made
me promise not to "teach" but I felt as though that was
needed...these crosswinds may not have made my tongue fly well...I
know that I didn't feel as though I had as good a conversation with
the interviewer as I had had with the producer...I definitely didn't
feel as sharp as I had with Paul Kennedy when he did his "Holden
Caulfield Fan Club" hour for the CBC. I really think I may have been
a bit of a dud for the BBC though they were kind in their note except
there was a note in it about how the email is confidential and I
mustn't share it with anyone--yes, yes, dear bananafish, I should
indeed fwd it to the list as a belated act of July 4th rebellion but
posting kindly rejection notes to this list is simply not worth worth
the pixels. However, with Paul's permission, I could put the HC Fan
club link on my web page...I'm listening to it now and love hearing
Paul, Tim, and Camille--their sincerity and insights are really quite
fine--and the voices of readers and the editing works so well--now
that I'm listening to this radio show I realize that Letters to
Salinger can really work in a similar way. It's got to have
heart--sincere feeling--and from what I've read so far, you won't be
disappointed!

In case you are still reading, yes, I'm divided and disappointed. I
don't mind telling you that I've had 4 days of difficult neck and
back pain and little sleep. I may not be at my best at the moment,
but here's where my words (and tongue) feel right. If it's possible
to french kiss you all with email, consider yourselves deeply kissed!
(and loved;) will
