Zazie:
My (however badly-worded) criticiscm was not about the interpretation of
art/lit. or the (emotional, mental or tax) effects of art/lit. It was about
"prophesying" about art. It just pisses my off, when i see people
putting words in other peoples mouths. Some people have a way
of presenting what they think about a certain book or painting
as if it was the Scripture reached down to them from high above.

me:
I agree absolutely. My Engluish teacher this year had a way of passing
on his opinions as Scripture. Quite covertly in fact. I dont know if the
other kids picked up on it. Hed agree with your point then say something
to the effect of, "I see what youre saying but hes what I think..." then go
on for 5-10 mintuies on a point of his, sompletely obliterating the kids
point. Of course, in his 10 odd years of teaching the same book/piece over
and over again he has developed speaches to deliver his point, in the process
causing his students to discard their own thoughts, and take his as the word
from on high as one would say.

Zazie:
So, what was the best poem you ever or heard AND what
did it do to you?

me:
Best poem Ill need to get back to you on. Im sort of far from home, bad
reason for an extension type thing, but its good enough for me to put it off
with. Best book needs to be "Triage", give me a day or two to find out the
authors name, the book is at home and Im not. Real good book depicting the
efforts of some utilitarian extremists, sort of.

Zazie:
My best book ever is "August" by J. Robinson (if you read it,
no girl jokes please). I really completely identified with
everything, well, alot, that was said in the book.

me:
I looked for that on the internet, couldnt seem to find it, waht does the J
stand for?
