Yup. I was just pointing out that, like all the others on that list (many of
whom did happen to be anti-Semites, of course), I include Joyce among those
artists and writers of the time whose work I love but whom I wouldn't have
wanted to have as a close friend. Just ask Sylvia Beach. Indeed, he apparently
treated his friends worse than most people treat their enemies.

Yes, I suppose it doesn't quite sound the same when you say "hang with...."
:)

But, since you mention those who lunched at a table that was never actually
round, and since I mentioned Alan Rudolph's delightful flick *The Moderns*, I
suppose at this point I should also plug Rudolph's other film about the period,
*Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle*. Jennifer Jason Leigh, I feel, does one
absolutely stunning job in that movie. It's definitely worth the time.
