Depends who you talk to.

The dates I've heard are that Jesus was born around 4-7 BCE and died
around 27-30 CE. John the apostle's age, when he met Christ, isn't
easily determined, and some argue that this John didn't write the Gospel
anyhow. It's tradition, of course, that the apostle John wrote his
gospel as a very old man.
