Actually, that was an expression of indifference, which is why I kept out of 
the conversation.  And, though I did think the history-of-text stuff was 
somewhat interesting, all the hocus-pocus god story stuff leaves me with the same 
feeling I had as a kid watching the tribesmen dance around the fire on National 
Geographic specials.  It might be anthropologically interesting, but I just 
don't see any need for it myself.
And, since you asked, I find the the question of the relationship between 
language, rhetoric, and politics to be a very complicated one and probably not 
best discussed or even usefully discussed in this sort of forum.  So I'm happy 
to let that go and just reaffirm that there's plenty of political action 
happening between holes (and on the golf course as well).
