Aha! You're right! My memory opens - Salinger actually denied the first
publishers who wanted to publish TCIR the rights because they *did* think
that Holden was crazy! He felt passionate enough about this to actually
take back his book and not let them publish it. Thankyou for jerking my
memory into action.

One of my favourite poets ... you could even see Rimbaud as a bit of a
Holden, at a stretch. They've finally released Total Eclipse out here and
it's getting nasty nasty reviews ...
